Act II Elphaba Cosplay -- Makeup & Hair

  Makeup     Because of my theatrical experience, I had a fairly good idea of what I would need going into this, but I combed through my Wicked Grimmerie for anything that might be of extra help. It does talk about the Greenifying process on pages 128 through 132, for those of you who have the Grimmerie. For those who don't, I will update with further information for you soon.     For the base, makeup designer Joseph Dulude II chose to use the Landscape Green Chromacake from MAC cosmetics, diluted and buffed out to make it a lighter green, and applied with a wide Japanese art brush. However, it does cost a pretty penny and I'm on a budget.       So I looked around for something less expensive and settled on Paradise Makeup AG in light green from Mehron Makeup. Act II Elphaba Cosplay -- Intro

  Introduction     The first time I saw Wicked was in 2003 before it went to Broadway. I was obsessed  with the Wizard of Oz when I was a youngling. Obsessed as in, I made my parents watch it with me again and again until the DVR broke, and I was Dorothy every Halloween for three years in a row. So naturally, when my mom heard about Wicked, she took me to see it as an early birthday present.     Almost seven year-old me was convinced that I wouldn't like Elphaba because she was the villain in my favorite movie, but I quickly changed my mind after the Act I finale 'Defying Gravity'. I've been obsessed with the character ever since. It would be an absolute dream come true for me to play her---even though I'm a Soprano and she's a Mezzo, so not really in my vocal range.     Anyway ---this idea of doing a proper, as accurate as I can make it Elphaba cosplay has been brewing for quite a long time.
