Act II Elphaba Cosplay -- Intro

 Introduction

The first time I saw Wicked was in 2003 before it went to Broadway. I was obsessed with the Wizard of Oz when I was a youngling. Obsessed as in, I made my parents watch it with me again and again until the DVR broke, and I was Dorothy every Halloween for three years in a row. So naturally, when my mom heard about Wicked, she took me to see it as an early birthday present.

Almost seven year-old me was convinced that I wouldn't like Elphaba because she was the villain in my favorite movie, but I quickly changed my mind after the Act I finale 'Defying Gravity'. I've been obsessed with the character ever since. It would be an absolute dream come true for me to play her---even though I'm a Soprano and she's a Mezzo, so not really in my vocal range.

Anyway---this idea of doing a proper, as accurate as I can make it Elphaba cosplay has been brewing for quite a long time. I can't wait any longer, I have to do it. However, making it one-hundred percent stage accurate would easily cost over a thousand dollars and I don't have that kind of money. So with that in mind, I will be making it as close to accurate as I possibly can on a budget of $500.

    Let's get started!
